The Case of Romanian Migrants in Western Europe

Dr. Ramona Arfire

Abstract

The research aims at a description of transnational moral panics as processes of othering, and their role as in shaping the cultural identity of Romanians as Europeans. The inquiry is in debt to the conceptual apparatus of cultural and postcolonial studies and of cultural criminology. Methodological cosmopolitanism is framing the of case study, content and discourse analysis and multi-sited ethnography as research methods, with the aim to unveil the ‘travelling’ crime symbols and otherness narratives in moral panics.
